Expression of VEGF in papillary thyroid carcinoma and papillary thyroid
microcarcinoma and its Clinical Significance
Abstract
Objective ：
To explore the expression of VEGF in papillary thyroid Carcinoma and
microcarcinoma （incidental and non- incidental ）and its Clinical Significance．
Methods ：
We retrospectively analyzed 135 consecutive patients with papillary thyroid
Carcinoma and microcarcinoma who underwent total thyroide ctomy at our institution
during 20 12；70 of them were papillary thyroid Carcinoma and 65 of them were
papillary thyroid microcarcinoma. Among the latter ，25 of them were incidental
microcarcinoma and 40 of them were non- incidental. And ，we randomly selected 30
normal thyroid tissue adjacent to carcinoma as the control group.
Immunohistochemistry using Elivision method was carried out for assessment of the
expression of VEGF among papillary thyroid Carcinoma , incidental
microcarcinoma ,non- incidental microcarc inoma and 30 normal thyroid tissue
adjacent to carcinoma .
Results ：
The positivity rates of VEGF in papillary thyroid Carcinoma (80.0%) and
non- incidental microcarcinoma(77.5%) were significantly higher than those in
incidental microcarcinoma(16.0%) and normal thyroid tissue adjacent to
carcinoma(16.7%).But there was no statistical difference between papillary thyroid
Carcinoma and non- incidental microcarcinoma or incidental microcarcinoma and
normal thyroid tissue adjacent to carcinoma. Moreover, we observe higher expression
of VEGF in patient with lymph node metastases than lymph node negative group,both
in papillary thyroid Carcinoma and n
