You see all the things on the wall the scream we are an academic institutions. You see bulletin boards, facts, history, art, just the feeling of a school with the library and the media center. We say we are ABOUT ACADEMICS. How much of that school says we are about the activity and health of our kids. Not only are we interested in kids that excell academically but we also want kids to be active and healthy. Yes we want you to learn but we also want you to be active and eat healthy and learn about activity, nutrition and health. We want to take care of you body because without it * * Not fair to make the blanket statement that all kids are inactive because some get lots of activity. 1/3-1/2 are very active. Need to be concerned about the least active. District in SW. 24 hr data. Big difference In elementary those active girls stayed level from 6-12. Least active girls stayed inactive. So if the school didn’t do anything about it they stayed inactive Boys most active boys trend is up. More active as they age. 2-3000 more than girls..not really. Girls are older developmentally so taker longer strides. Lots of concern and effort to increase the activity levels of girls but should be just as concerned about boys. Least active get less active.
