REPORT The economy in East Timor is backward, and the natural environment is bad, so we designed a simple community to improve the quality of life in East Timor. The road construction in East Timor Because Timor Leste is located on the Pacific seismic belt，plate movement is so frequent that this area occurs stronger earthquake and tsunami easily. Natural disasters like mudslide and flood happen frequently, so our group decided to choose stone matrix asphalt (SMA) and gravels as the materials of the road construction. SMA is regarded as the asphalt mixture which is strong against deformation and has good durability in the international society. On account of ability of coarse aggregate that it inlays and crushes well, this mixture has a very good ability against track under the environment of high temperature. In the meantime because of the cementing action of Stone Matrix Asphalt, it causes the result that deformation performance under low temperature and water stability become better, Adding fiber stabilizer makes asphalt matrix keep high viscosity so that it has a good compaction effect and a good paving effect. Besides, gap grading forming macropore on the surface causes deep in the structure of the anti-sliding performance is good. Meanwhile the void of this kind of mixture is small, so aging resistance and durability is very good. Thus, it improves the road property of this kind of asphalt mixture entirely. SMA has significant role in the fight against these natural disasters. Although the funding is large at the start, but if the natural disasters happen, such road may reduce the loss at a low level. It reduces the degression greatly, and we don’t need to input money to rebuild a new road.
