There is a great amount of its products in industry. In China, whetstone manufacturers are spread all over the southeast coastal cities represented by Dongyang, Zhejiang,with low hardness and easy to run out . However， β-SiC, as a new material, that can be used into the oilstone with higher hardness and better durability, is expected to become a substitute. As a result ，this paper have been studied the preparation and physical properties of β-SiC oilstone, including the water absorption, porosity, bulk density and Rockwell hardness. In this paper, physical properties and preparation process of β-SiC oilstone have been studied in detail from two aspects of formulation and process, and obtained the best formula and process under the experimental conditions. Namely: The best formula: when the content of β-SiC is 100.0 g, potassium feldspar is 18.0 g, fine naphthalene for 6.0 g, dextrin as 3.0 g and 30.0 g sugar water, B C for 2.5 g, kaolin as 4 19.0 g.
