Recently, fludioxonil, azoxystrobin and pyrimethanil as reduced-risk compounds have been registered for citrus postharvest treatments for decay control in many countries. Because their mode of actions against postharvest fungal pathogens are different from the old fungicides, they are effective to control isolates resistant to old fungicides, and solve the difficulty of old fungicides losing effectiveness. Here, this article reviews the advance of new fungicides safely and effectively applied into control of citrus postharvest diseases, including mode of actions, the range of disease controlled, maximum residue limits, risk of fungicide resistance and fungicide usage strategies.
