This paper presents the background of this topic at first.Then this paper introduce two kinds of coupling ways of bidirectional coupler.They are serial coupling and parallel coupling.These two kinds of coupling ways are the base of bidirectional coupler.This paper presents two different available circuit structure by combination two different coupling ways introduced in front .This paper deduces in detail the various parameters and compares their advantages and disadvantages.Bidirectional coupler consisted of two transformers is simple but its isolation is not good.Bidirectional coupler consisted of three transformers is complex but its isolation is good. In order to facilitate discussing the influence of magnetic core on transformer this paper presents a equivalent circuit of practical transformer. By comparing with ideal transformer,find magnetic cores related parameters which influence transformer.In this premise,this paper introduces different kinds of magnetic core and select suitable magnetic cores for this topic. Then it is experiment process .In order to know the inductance value of coil and compare permeability of different magnetic cores,test permeability of some magnetic core. Then made a practical bidirectional coupler and tested its technical index.Besides standing-wave ratio,others all meet the demand.Main attenuation reaches 0.24db.Coupling factor is about 20.3db.Isolation reaches 28db.The only pity is that standing-wave ratio is nearly 1.5. At last ,this paper discuss the result,analysis the reason which cause high standing-wave ratio and sum up the whole subject. Key Words：bidirectional coupler couple modes transf
