3.Ss enjoy using their own words to explain the water cycle through play
Teaching procedure
Step1 Lead-in
Teacher shows a glass of water and asks Ss: What’s this?
Ss: It’s a glass of water
T: I get it from a water tap. Then where can I find water in the nature?
Ss: in lakes, seas, mountains, in the plants…
T: Good! I list some of the places let’s see (slide1)
Now read them together after me.
T: We can see there is lots of water on the earth, do you know what we call the earth because of it.
Ss: a world of water.
Step2 Listening and Reading
1. Listen to Para.1 and answer the questions
T: right. (slide2) Then how much water all together, do you think?
Ss…
T: Now let’s listen to the tape to find the right answer. You may open your book on P64. Look at Para 1.
(After listening)
Ss: about 330 million cubic miles
T: Then what about the 3 questions, can you find the answers quickly? (slide3)
(1) Where can we find most of the water, how much? In the ocean, 230 million cubic miles
(2) 3different types of water that exists in the world? Water vapor, ice, water
2. Play a video.(slide4)
T: Let’s find more about the water, look at the video:
Did you know that the water we drink today may be drunk by thousands of year old dinosaur?
T: How to understand the sentence? Does the dinosaur still alive today?
Ss: Of course not.
T: So the water is very old, you know, the oceans can be thousands of years.
But you may ask why? Because we drink fresh water in the river, not the salt water in the ocean,
How can we drink the water in the ocean?
It’s because of the water cycle.(slide5)
