Its convergence and computational efficiency are usually good, but there is still some space to improve. Given this background, an effort is made to develop a new back/ forward sweep method accommodating arbi trary numbering of nodes. In the proposed approach, an algorithm similar to the parallelstream technique in digital signal processing ( DSP) and the interruptionwaiting technique in single chip microcomputers is devel oped and named as the parallel and interruptionwaiting method. A case study is served for demonstrating the convergence and computational efficiency of the proposed method, and for comparisons with several existing methods such as theconventional NewtonRaphson method, two modified Newton methods and theexisting hi erarchical back/forward sweep method.
