Target Language: Can you come to my party on Saturday ? ---Sure, I’d love to. / Sorry, I must study for a math test. Can he go to the party? ---No, he can’t. He has to help his parents. Can they go to the movies? ---No, they’re not free. SectionA: 1.—Jenny, can you come to my party on Saturday afternoon? 詹妮,周六下午你能来参加我的聚会吗? —Sure, I’d love to.当然,我很愿意。 (1)此句中can表示请求,这是邀请的一种表达方式。其他的还有: Would you like to…?Could you…?I hope you can… e.g.Would you like to go to the movies with me? 你愿意和我一起去看电影吗? Could you have dinner with us? 和我们一起吃顿饭 I hope you can go with me. 我希望你能和我一起去。 辨析:can与may ① 这两个情态动词都可以表示“许可”。在征求对方的意见时,用may较多。e.g.May I go now? 现在我可以走吗? ② 在询问客观上(按规定)是否可以时,用can更好一些。 e.g.Can we take the books out?我们能把书拿出去吗? ③ 在两者都可以用时,may显得客气一些。 e.g.May I take this seat?我可以坐在这儿吗? ④ 在陈述句中,用can时较多。如果用may就显得不太客气。 e.g.You can sit here. 你可以坐在这儿。 ⑤ can还可以表示能力。 e.g.Can you speak English?你会说英语吗?(may没有这种用法) (2)Sure, I’d love to. 当然,我很愿意。 I’d love to. 是省略句,省略与问句相当的部分,即come to your party, 但应注意不定式符号to应该保留,不能省略。 e.g.—Will you come? 你能来吗? —I’d love to. 我很乐意。 (3)on Saturday afternoon意为“在周六的下午”。当时间具体到某一天或某一天的上午、下午或晚上时,用介词on而不用介词in。 e.g.on the morning of May 1st  在五月一号上午 on Monday evening 在周一晚上 2.I’m so
