Luoyang Institute of Science and Technology, Luoyang 471023, China) Abstract: The normal method of testing stress was employed to contrast and analysis the welding joints in titanium-alloy thick plate. A new measure about testing three dimensional stress was innovated which was suitable to narrow-gap welding in titanium, that is curing blind holes layer by layer and symmetrically. The method overcomes the disadvantages about which the three dimensional stress distributed areas are strait, the variation of stress gradients is big, and the control of testing stress is difficult. Therefore, the testing of three dimensional residual stresses in titanium heavy plates is realized and the regularities of distribution of weld joints in titanium heavy plates can be gained.
