Romanenko UDC 539.376 Modem methods of constructing defining equations in the theory of creep have made it possible to obtain a wide spectrum of dependencies that reflect such basic properties as aging, flow, hardness, and damage resistance [1, 3, 12, 13]. The effectiveness with which these dependencies can be used during solution of problems on creep is closely related to the number of unknown parameters and the possibility of realizing methods of determining them. The most frequent approach uses individual parts of the primary creep curves and the corresponding approximations in terms of powers, exponential functions, logarithmic functions, fractional-exponential functions, and polynomials. In the present paper we present a new approach to solution of problems on processing experimental creep diagrams that is based on the use of approximated splines and statistical methods. 1. The problem of fmding creep functions and identification of the constants that appear in them is one of the fundamental divisions of the methodology of constructing theories of creep and has been the object of a great deal of research [3, 5, 7, 8, 10, 11, 13, 15, 17, etc.]. In general, the deformation due to creep ee is a function of the stress o, time t, and the temperature 0; this deformation is usually written as a
