历届美国数学建模竞赛赛题(Previous mathematical modeling contest in the United States) Previous American Mathematical Modeling Contest (2001-2006) AMCM2001 problem - A: select bike wheel There are different types of wheels that can be used by cyclists on their bicycles. The two basic types of wheels are assembled with metal spokes and solid disks, respectively (see Figure 1). The spokes wheel is light, but the solid wheels are more consistent with the aerodynamics principle. For a road race, an entity wheel is never used as the front wheel of a bicycle, but can be used as a rear wheel. Occupation cyclists look at the race route, and ask a person that should be able to read what kind of wheel. The decision is based on the number and the steepness of the hills along the way, the weather, wind speed, competition and other considerations made. The coach of your favorite team wants to be prepared for a better system, and has requested information from your team to determine which wheels are appropriate for the given race route. The coach needs definite information to help you make a decision and has asked your team to complete the tasks listed below. For each task, it is assumed that the same spokes wheel will always be in the front, and the rear wheels are optional. Task 1. provides a table that gives wind speed, at which speed the rear wheels require less physical energy than the spokes rear wheels. The table should include corresponding to the wind speed from zero percent to ten percent in increments of one percent different road grades. The total length of the highway road (divided by the increasing steepness is defined as a hill. If the hill as a triangle, it refers to the steepness of the sine angle) at the foot of the hill.
