Methods Sa antigen was extracted from fresh human placenta, and anti Sa antibody in serum of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and other rheumatic patients was detected by Western blot, and analyzed with clinical data. Results in 192 cases of RA, 65 cases were positive for anti Sa antibody, the sensitivity of RA diagnosis was 33.9%, and the specificity was 96.9%. At the same time the relative molecular weight of 50000, 55000 and two bands of 15 cases (23.1%), the evaluation of joint pain and C evaluation of disease activity in the patients with physicians and patients with increased C-reactive protein (CRP) alone and 50000 bands were compared, were significantly increased. The positive rate of anti Sa antibody in 31 cases of early RA was 32.3%, 9 cases were confirmed by RA, 4 cases were anti Sa antibody positive; 63 cases were negative in RF, and the positive rate of anti Sa antibody in RA was 27%. In the positive group of anti Sa antibody, the onset of small joint was dominant, and the titer of RF was higher than that of negative group. Conclusion anti Sa antibodies are helpful for early diagnosis of RA and RF negative RA, while 50000, 55000 and two bands may be related to disease activity.
