Millions more have done it at least once. Officially, we are talking about a music event. Unofficially, the Glastonbury Festival is a rite of passage for the nation’s youth. This year was no exception. By Friday June 25, 115,000 people had gathered to hear stars including Sir Paul McCartney of the Beatles and Oasis play. These were only two of over 2,000 acts which were performed over the three-day festival. As well as bands, circuses, theatrical performers and disc jockeys entertained the crowds from nine stages and performance areas. Normally, the only inhabitants of Glastonbury are cows. During the festival a tent city suddenly springs to life, along with hundreds of temporary shops selling food, clothing and everything else city dwellers transported to the countryside might need.
