T ourmaline is a common mineral ex ist ent in sedimentary , ig neous and m et amorphic rocks. A variet y of ex periments demon- st rat e that t his mineral can be st able in an ex cept ionally large p-t range, i. e. at p-t condit ions 850 e and 4 GPa. Ow ing to the low volume diff usion , t he preservation of g row t h zones in t ourmaline has become an ef fec- t ive key t o investigating t he boron evolut ion in rocks, the f luid- chemical history and the metamorphism of rocks. T he research on t he structure and chemist ry of tourmaline reveals t hat component s, such as Al and F are corre- lat ed w it h the format ion t emperat ure. A ccording to diff erent boron sources, t he formation modes of H P- U HP tourmaline can be categorized into t hree ty pes, i. e. , T ype A , T ype B and T ype C. Based on the analy
