Lesson Plan of Unit 4 Nelson Mandela – a modern hero (第1时) 一、教材内容分析 覆盖内容:Warming up Reading 教材分析:本课时教学内容是阅读,通过热身讨论自己心目中的英雄和伟人应具有的品质进入阅读的中心人物—纳尔逊·曼德拉,不仅激发学生的兴趣,还能引发学生对伟人更多的思考。文章以一个穷苦的黑人工人的叙述他身边的曼德拉的故事,使学生读起来更亲切,引人入胜。在教学中,先指导学生迅速扫描弄清主人公和中心人物的关系,再让学生进一步了解他的生活是如何发生变化的。如何分段,提炼段落大意,培养学生的概括能力是本课学习中的重要一环。最后,可设计复述任务让学生更好地理解阅读教材,评价曼德拉其人也有助于学生形成正确的人生观和世界观。 二、教学目标 通过这个部分的学习,让学生了解什么样的人会成为伟人,人们心中的英雄,同时积累了一些描述伟人的词汇和表达法。阅读方面,让学生了解进一步熟悉﹑掌握一些阅读技巧,包括如何概括、归纳、总结和细节的理解等。学生完成阅读任务后,让学生进行复述,既检查学生是否完成了阅读任务,还能巩固所学的语言知识,提高学生的表达能力,号召他们向英雄学习,提高自身素质,将来做个对社会有用的人。 三、教学过程 Step 1 Leading-in Warming-up (6 mins) 1. Play a part of song Hero and let the students know what it is about. Then ask the students some questions about heroes in a moving atmosphere. T: Have you ever heard of the song? I think most of us are very familiar with it. What is the name? What is it about? (Answer: Hero) T: Who is your hero/heroine? Who do you admire in your heart? Why? Do you think he is a great man? What contributions does he make to the society? What qualities does he have? (Possible answers: Never give up; insist on what he pursues; never lose heart when in great trouble; be willing to do public service; do his best….) 2. Show the students pictures about six famous men, and then ask them whether they are also heroes in their hearts by reading the information about them. Let them make a conclusion about a great person using the attributive clause. T: Are they also your heroes in your hearts? Why do you think they are great? (Possible answers: All of them are great men, because they made contributions to our society….) T: So let’s make a conclusion that a great person is someone who _______________. (Possible answers: A great person is someone who has sacrificed something so that he can realize his dream; A great person is someone who is hard-working, confident and persistent; A great person is someone who helps others and unselfishly gives up something to achieve his goal….) 【设计说明:通过歌曲“英雄”引入话题,激发学生的兴趣,调动学生的积极 性
