从文化角度看英汉习语的翻译 Translation of English and Chinese Idioms from the Perspective of Culture 内 容 摘 要 习语凝结着民族实践经验，是人类语言的结晶，其寓意深刻又韵味隽永，既闪烁着思想智慧的光辉，也闪耀着语言艺术的光彩。不同的习语所传递的文化信息不同，若不处理这些文化因素，在翻译中难免会出现文化误解。 习语，文化与翻译三者之间的内在关系是系统化的。影响习语文化差异有四种因素：中外不同的社会背景，历史事件，不同的宗教信仰和文学作品以及不同的生活习惯和政治立场。 在英汉习语的翻译中有翻译原则也有翻译策略，翻译策略有加注，意义扩大，改写及意译。翻译时要根据习语承载的不同文化背景选择最合适的翻译策略和原则，以便于让目的读者能够像原语读者一样欣赏到异国文化。具体操作起来，翻译者需要充分了解习语所承载的文化涵义，而后选择最恰当的手法对其差异部分进行补偿。习语翻译中文化差异及其翻译策略和翻译原则可以应用于翻译理论研究和实践中，特别是在习语的翻译中文化差异部分处理可以提高中英习语的翻译水平，使译文更准确，通达地介绍本国习语和吸收外来习语。 关键词：习语翻译；文化差异；翻译原则；翻译策略 Abstract As crystallization of human language，idiom is a form of language that accumulates human experiences and are famous for its deep meaning and its elegant expression. Idioms also spark with brilliance of human ideology and language glory. Different idiom transmits different cultural information, and cultural misunderstanding or cultural loss would arise in translation. The interrelationship between idiom, culture and translation is systematical. There are four manifestations of cultural difference in idioms translation, namely social and historical background and events, customs and legends, religious beliefs and literary works, living habits and politics. In English and Chinese idiom translation, there are some principles and methods for translation. The methods of idiom translation are annotation, contextual amplification, adaptation and literal translation. Translators can choose the most suitable translating method based on different cultural background information in the idioms. Readers may appreciate foreign culture as their foreign counterparts do. In practice, translators understand the cultural elements in idioms and then use the fittest way to compensate the different part. The principles and methods in Chinese and English idiom translation can be applied to the studies of translation theory and practice.
