Abstract ：The pathogenic dampness includes internal dampness and external dampness. The external dampness has characteristic of sea­ sonality , regionality and artificiality. The internal dampness is caused by the deficiency of spleen and dampness, which results a series of functional disorders lead to in a number of clinical symptoms. Symptoms of ulcerative colitis (UC) include hematochezia, abdominal pain, dia hea and so on. The cause of ulcerative colitis is complex and not clear, but most contain to pathogenic dampness. Seasonali­ ty, regionality and artificiality as external dampness is external cause. Eating and drinking without temperance, seven emotions great tiredness and lost, deficiency in the spleen and kidney innate is the basis of the formation of internal dampness. The external dampness enters body and unites internal dampness, which causes UG complex clinical symptoms and the key of lingering.
