新编大学英语第二版第三册第8单元课外课文翻译1(New edition of College English second edition, third book, eighth unit, extracurricular text translation 1) New edition of College English, Second Edition, third volumes Unit eighth text translation Edited by: Zhejiang University Publishing House: foreign language teaching and Research Press Genes, environments, and twins What effect does heredity and environment have? To some extent, the potential of a mans birth will determine what he does for life. So heredity is destiny, and destiny is something. However, genes do not play a role in a vacuum; once we begin to recognize the gene in personal development role, we will understand, not to interact with the environment, will not have any personal development. Not characterized by or entirely caused by genes. Genetic and environmental interactions were most easily observed in identical twins. Most identical twins are raised together, so they are strikingly alike in appearance and behavior. These examples show that individuals who have the same genes respond to the environment in almost the same way if they are brought up in the same environment. But these examples do not explain what happens if these twins are separated from each other. A number of studies have been carried out on identical twins who have been separated from each other. The twins studied were living in the United States, growing in almost the same natural environment and with almost the same nutritional history. Thus, as expected, they are extremely similar in appearance, height, and weight. But there are exceptions: a very serious one of the twins suffering from disease and another was not sick; but overall, monozygotic twins, monozygotic twins even separated from infancy, so similar in physical and psychological, to everyone left a deep impression. In a study of 19 twins separated from birth, the researchers found that about 2/3 of the difference between twins was as obvious as the difference between twins who grew up together
