The results showed that (1) the correlations between hope, optimism and meaning in life were all sta- tistically significant; (2) hope and optimism can predict meaning in life independently in regres- sion model, and only hope would predict meaning in life when optimism and hope simultaneously entered the model; (3) the agency of hope fully mediated the relationship between optimism and meaning in life. The results suggested that two different prospective expectations, both hope and optimism can predict meaning in life , and hope is more efficient than optimism to contribute to meaning in life; there is direct effect of hope on meaning in life, and optimism need to influence the individual’s hope to indirectly provide meaning in life.
