Abstract
ThisstudywasconductedtoevaluatetherelationshipsbetweenPM2
. 5andassociatedpolycyclicaromatichydrocarbons(PAHs)in
indoorandoutdoorenvironments,identify likelyPAH sources,determinepersonalexposures,and estimatethetoxicity and
carcinogenicrisks.MonitoringwasconductedinXi’an,Chinaonconsecutiveweekdays(July6to24,2009)from8amto8pm.
TheaveragePM25personalexposuremassconcentration(66.4ggm )waslowerthanthatoutdoors(80.5lagm ),buttheaverage
totalPAHconcentrationinthepersonalexposuresamples(179.8ngm。)washigherthanoutdoors(114.9ngm ).Inaddition,two
distinctrelationshipsbetweenpersonalexposureandoutdoorPAH concentrationswereobserved;thesecouldbeexplainedbythe
subjects’time-activitypatterns.PAllstoxiciyt riskswereestimatedfrom theBaP—equivalentconcentrationsinthepersonal
samplesanddetemr inedtobe45.8ngm—onaverage.Applyingtheunit
