Methods Macroporous resin was chosen with static and dynamic adsorption and desorption experiments to optimize the purification parameters. Results S-8 macroporous resin was found to have good adsorption and desorption effects and show an excellent decolor effect. The optimum purification conditions were 1 mg/mL of saponins eluted by 75% ethanol at pH value 7 with a volume of 10 mL/g, and the loaded amount was 60 mL/g. The purity of total saponons increased to 50.15% after the purification, and the decoloration rate maintained 92.23%. Conclusion S-8 is an ideal resin with the best enrichment for separating and purifying total saponins from A. officinalis.
