This p ap er reviewed t he studies on t he movement ways ,i . e . ,infiltration ,p hreatic evaporation , ground water recharge and interflow ,of unsaturated and saturated soil water in forest catchment s ,and introduced t he present advances in soil hydraulic p arameters ,including soil water characteristic curve ,and unsaturated and saturated soil hydraulic conductivity . Research directions in t he future were also proposed .
