The results demonstrated that the ε-martensite and α’-martensite would be directly formed in the sub-rapidly solidified Fe-Mn and Fe-Mn-C samples. And the lath width of ε-martensite and α’-martensite was lower than that of sample produced by conventional method. The mechanical properties of Fe–Mn and Fe-Mn-C samples prepared by sub–rapidly solidification were even higher than those by hot rolled and heat treated. This work discusses the relationship between the microstructure and the mechanical properties of the strips. Key words sub-rapid solidification, TWIP steel, mechanical property, microstructure 1 1 Introduction High-Mn steels exhibit both high tensile strength and good ductility and have attracted much attention as a promising candidate for next-generation automotive steel. However, there are still problems in conventional prod
