Ⅰ.Teaching Objectives:
Review and describe Helen’s learning process.
Discuss about reasons for Helen’s success.
Discuss about reasons for Anne’s success as a teacher.
Teaching important and difficult points:
Ss must have difficulty in understanding the whole passage for it’s a little longer text. It’s also important and difficult for Ss to divide the text in to four parts and figure out the main idea of each part.
Teaching methods: TBL (Task-based learning), predicting, skimming, etc.
Teaching aids: multi-media, over-head projector, bb, etc.

Pre-reading
How do you feel when you go back to your seats with your eyes covered?(Let two Ss cover their eyes and go back to their seats. Then, let them share their feelings.)
Do you know something about Helen?
Helen Keller (June 27, 1880 - June 1, 1968), was an author, lecturer, and humanitarian whose unusual life and dedicated (献身的) work had an international influence on the lives of the disabled (残疾人). She became blind and deaf at the age of 19 months through a damaging brain fever and could communicate only through hysterical (歇斯底里) laughter or violent tantrums (发怒). But, with the help of her teacher Anne Mansfield Sullivan, Keller learned to read braille (盲文) and to write by using a special typewriter.

Ss have four mins to read the whole passage and divide it into proper parts and try to summarize the main ideas of each part.
Divide the whole passage into 4 parts:
Part 1(pa1) Helen Keller’s problem.
Part2 (pa2) Helen’s teacher, Anne Sullivan.
Part3 (pa3--5) How Anne taught Helen the words which can be touched.
Part4 (pa6--11) How Anne taught Helen the words which can not be touched.
Ss can the passage and answer the following questions.
