An ophthalmic endoilluminator comprising: a light source; a precision lamp assembly for holding the light source; an actuator for moving the precision lamp assembly; a controller for controlling the operation of the actuator; a collimating lens for collimating light produced by the light source; a condensing lens for focusing the light; and an optical fiber for carrying the focused light into an eye; wherein the actuator moves the precision lamp assembly over time to compensate for movement of a hot spot of the light source.?2.
