China Abstract Objective To study the value of endoscopic naso-jejunal feeding tube placement in improving the nutritional status and prevention of infection for patients with severe acute pancreatitis (SAP). Methods We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 52 patients with SAP treated from January 2010 to December 2011. Twenty- five patients received enteral nutrition (EN) treatment with naso-jejunal feeding tube placement, while 27 underwent traditional total parenteral nutrition (TPN) therapy. The differences of nutritional status, infection and organ failure between EN and TPN were compared. Results The differences of BMI, total serum protein, and serum albumin changes before and after the treatment in both groups were statistically signifi cant (P 0.05).
