Abstract With the rapid development of modern industrialization and urbanization construction, urban population scale unceasingly expands, which requires the constant upgrade of the city function objectively, however, urban sprawl, in a certain extent, hampers the performance of urban functions, so the urban renewal also has gradually become more and more important. At present, China has entered the rapid development period of urbanization, being confronted with only two ways to choose from: opening new district or urban renewal. As China is with keen contradiction between population and land scale, it is an inevitable trend to select the latter one to develop. It has become a strategic task that how to find a proper pattern which can really solve the problems in old-city renewal, combined with the urban actual development condition in our country. The old-city reconstruction has important practical significance for the readjustment of industrial structure, the performance of the urban infrastructure function, and the sustainable development of city. The paper is divided into five chapters. The first one introduces the background and the significance of this topic, combs the viewpoints of the domestic and foreign researchers, and makes some brief comments at the same time, then introduces the research idea 、method 、main content and possible innovations of this article in detail .
