4.Is the English language always changing？Talk about some changes of English. What are the factors that contribute a lot to changes of a language？
Ever since human beings came into being, profound changes have taken place in the history of human civilization. Among these changes, linguistic changes are conspicuous. Various languages are spoken around the world, and each of them has varied a lot from its origin. In the following, We had like to talk about some changes in English, and some reasons that lead up to these changes.
A: We all know that there are three steps in the development of English: Old English, Middle English, and Modern English. The Old English was simply a combination of the language of the Angles and the Saxons. What’s more, the use of English was very limited, because it was only spoke in the isle and the number of users was no more than 10 million. Old English developed into Middle English, heavily influenced by the Norman French. Modern English developed from there and continued to adopt foreign words, especially from Latin and Greek.
B: From its history we can see that English differs a lot from its origin, because it has been influenced by so many languages. In old English, Angle was written as England their language was Englisc. The “sc” was pronounced as “sh”. For example, “sheep” was written as “sceap”. But the changes of vocabulary are obvious, since English adopted a lot of words from French, Greek and Latin. What causes these changes? We think , there are several reasons as following.
