However, these analysis tools diff er f rom each other considerably f rom the p oint of view of the app licability to a sp ecial p roblem. The authors comp are two widesp read environments: MA TLAB-SIM ULINK, which can be used to simulate a wide sp ectrum of dynamic systems, and A TP-EMTP, which is sp ecif ic sof tware to simulate p ower system transient p roblems. In the f irst p art of the p ap er the comp onents (f unction-blocks) that can be used to build a circuit, are listed. Then three examp les are p resented which demonstrate the cap abilities and underline the advantages and drawbacks of both p rograms.
