The purpose of this study was to estimate
the brine gas resources, to derive the material
balance equation, and to numerically simulate
the production characteristics of brine gas
reservoirs. A case from southwestern Taiwan
was studied to estimate the gas resources and to
investigate the production characteristics.
The modified material balance equation
for a br in e gas r eser voir was der ived an d
the linear relationship between solution gas-
water ratio and cumulative gas produ ction
was studied. Results of this study showed that
the target formation (a brine gas reservoir
- in th e SW Taiwan) can b e a p ot ential gas
production reservoir if the initial gas saturation
is larger than the critical gas saturation and the
production wells are placed in the up-dip of the
structure.
