Good afternoon ,teachers, The topic of my speech is college education in our school. As a college teacher ,maybe you have gone through such a scene many times. You are giving a lesson passionately in the class ,while some students are sleepy and even some have already fallen into sleep. At this moment, I guess that you must be a little angry .Well, please think about this—what causes this? why did they stay up late last night? Next , let me answer this question. As I know ,about half of students stay up late to finish their homework or prepare for their examinations. Why they do such thing late in night ? Because they are busy in the daytime. Why they are so busy? Because there are many lectures and experiments. Actually,too many courses and homeworks occupy too much time of students. And I think ,this causes many negative effects. And therefore, such situation must be changed. Our school should reduce the number of courses. since students spend too much time finishing their homework, they always stay up late ,which surely do harm to their health .what’s more, students have little time to develop their hobbies and maybe they will miss something that is very important in college life ,such as having parties, travelling with friends or dating with a girl. to tell you a true story about one of my classmates, once a girl wanted to date with him, but he just said to that girl, “I’m sorry, because I need to finish my advanced mathematics homework, and tomorrow is the deadline.” what a pity ,isn’t it? what being more important is that students learn little from these courses. most of us are not geniuses. our energy is limited , and so many courses divide it into many pieces. I have learned many subjects during my freshman year, but now ,for more half of them ,nothing was left in my mind except for the name of those courses. we just learn a little from each course, and thus it results in such a situation –we learn everything ,w learn nothing. in fact ,our school’s education
