Course type: Reading and writing
Teaching method: Task-based approach
Teaching aims: 1. To get information from the reading material about the family .
2. To write about the family , paying attention to capitalization , full stop and question mark .
Key vocabulary: many , people , aunt , grandfather , grandmother , grandparent , uncle , have got , email , him
Key structure:
1) How many people are there in your family ?
2) Thank your for your email .
3) We’ve got a small family .
4) — Have you got any brothers ?
— Yes , I have . / No , I haven’t .
5) He hasn’t got any brothers .
Grammar: have / has got 的用法。
Teaching aids: Tape recorder, pictures and so on
Teaching steps:
Step1 Warming-up
1.Greetings.
2. Review the text of Unit 1 .
3. Review the members of family .
4. Match the words in Box A with the words in Box B.
1) Ask the students to match the pairs individually , then to check with a partner.
2) Ask the whole class to call out the answers .
Step2. Work in pairs.
1.Show two pictures: A photo of Lingling’s family and A photo of Tony’s family.
2.Ask and anwer.
--- Has she got a big family or a small family?
--- She has got a big family . There are …people in her family.
--- He has got a small family .There are only … people in his family.They are his…
3.Make an interview and report it .
Interview a friend about his/her family .Here are some questions to help you.
Have you got a big or a small family ? How many people are there in your family? Who are they? Make up a dialogue with your partner like this:
A: Excuse me ,can you answer my questions?
B:Yes / Sure.
A: Have you got a big or a small family ?
B: I have got……
A: How many people are there in your family?
B: There are ……
A: Who are they?
B: They are my ….
A: Thank you very much.
B: You are welcome.
Step 3 Work in pairs.
