Synthesis of New Ant-i Hypertensive Drug of Amlodipine

Abstract: In this paper, various synthesizing method, medical mechanism, productive situation at home and
abroad of amlodipine are reviewed. The key step in the synthesis of amlodipine, cyclization of the 1, 4-
dihydropyridine by Michael addition reaction and Hantzsch reaction in which different amine protective groups
were used, are illustrated in details. By comparing the advantages and disadvantages of the two different
processes, the feasibilities of industrial application is discussed.
