This thesis, based on the former studies on this aspect, under the guidance of Nidas functional equivalence theory, conducts systematic and comprehensive study on the translation of public signs. The thesis starts by introducing the basic knowledge of public signs, including the definition, function and then illustrates the linguistic characteristics of public signs .Then comes the introduction to Nidas functional equivalence.
