Brainstorming
1. Read the introduction and know about the background of writing, discuss the questions:
What disasters may take place in our city?
2. Read the short report about a typhoon and then discuss what ss can do to help the homeless.
1. Help students think about the question and note down their discussion.
e.g. floods, typhoons, earthquakes, fires
2. Ask ss:
What happened to Garden City last weekend?
How many people were killed because of the typhoon?
How many people lost their homes in the typhoon?
What do you think of the typhoon?
1. To help ss to identify with the situation.
2. Help ss understand the report.

Finish the writing.
Finish writing a notice to call on people to protect the environment and protect homes.
