Ss listen to the music and do actions.
3. Revision
1) Ask Ss to review the learned adjectives: fat, thin, tall, short, long, big, small, strong, friendly, quiet, cute.
2) Tell the opposite
When the teacher says an adjective, the student has to tell the opposite one.
T: tall.
S: short.
……
And then ask students to practice in pairs.
Step 2: Presentation
1. Teach new words: hot, warm, cool, cold
1) Teach word: hot
The teacher pours a glass of hot water, tries to drink and says: It’s hot. It’s hot. Do you want to have a try?
Ask several students to feel it and encourage them to say: It’s hot. Then write it on the blackboard.
Read the words in rising-falling tone and read two by two.
2) Teach word: warm
Show a picture of spring
T: It’s warm. (write it on Bb)
Let Ss guess the meaning, and read “warm” together.
Game: Wag one’s head.
After S1 reading the word “warm”, if he nods his head to the front student, that student has to read. If he nods his head to the student next to him, this one has to read.
3) Teach word: cool
Show a picture of fall.
T: Is it warm?
S: No, it isn’t. It’s cool.
[Write “cool” on Bb]
Practice the word in high-low voice.
4) Teach word: cold
[Present ice]
T: What’s this?
S: It’s ice. [ask Ss to feel it.]
Guide Ss to say it’s cold. Write “cold” on Bb. And read together.
Game: Pass the ice, say cold.
