我所见所闻的土木工程和土木工程师 ——土木工程概论课程报告 (English summery) Ever since I was a kid，I was very amazed at the worlds many magnificent buildings. Now，I have more chance to get closed to them, because I have became a student of the College of Civil Engineering, Tongji University, I felt I was ready to learn the great subject which is great since ancient times棗civil ecngineering. According to my shallow understanding, civil engineering is a form of human activity, it is such a subject that to build various types of engineering facilities. Its history is very long and can be traced back to ancient times. And its range is also very broad, including housing construction, highways and urban road works, railway engineering, bridge engineering, hydraulic engineering, tunnel engineering, airport engineering, underground engineering, marine engineering, port terminal projects and so on. In our history, the civil engineering has made great contributions to human beings. Many great works, such as Dujiangyan, Zhaozhou Bridge has played a huge role even today, which makes us younger amazing and determined to fight for it. Nowadays, with the development of science and technology, civil engineering is entering a new period of rapid development. Many great works is announcing the coming of a greater age. In China, many large projects are under construction. Our country has become the worlds most active and the most prosperous areas in construction industry, and the speed of construction is the highest in the world. The new historical period has brought us good opportunities for development but also bring us challenges. As civil engineering career successors in the new era, as university students, we should make good use of the valuable time in recent years.
