Reading A TRIP ON “THE TRUE NORTH”
Teaching Aims
-To get the students to learn something about Canada
-To improve students’ reading skills

Step 1.Greeting the students.
Step 2.Lead-in
1.T shows some pictures about Canada to the Ss and ask some Qs.
2.Today we are going to learn Unit 5 Canada-“TheTrue North”
Step 3.Warming-up
1.T asks the Ss do the quiz about Canada in pairs
2.T presents the correct answers and explain some points if necessary.
( Answers:1.C 2.D 3.A 4.B 5.A)
3.T asks some Ss to report their numbers of correct answers.
After you learn this Unit, you will learn more about Canada..
Step 4.Pre-reading
1.T asks the Ss to look at the map and describe what they see.
2.T guides the Ss to predict the content of the passage with the help of the title and the pictures
Title: A Trip On “the True North” A train is going through forests.
Prediction: This text may be a travel report. It may include: Who went to travel? Where did they go ? What did they see? What did they do? What did they hear about?
Step 5 .Reading
1.Fast-reading
1)T asks the students to read the text fast and check if their prediction is correct.
2) Ss answer the Qs
Q1:What does “The True North” mean in the passage?
( It is the name of a train.)
Q2:What three words would you use to describe Canada?
