With faster and easier access to a patient’s history, decision support applications, and order processing software, caregivers can save time with each patient and case in the course of a day allowing them to deliver more care to more people despite the staffing shortages they’re facing. With all of the government regulations in place, it’s no surprise that hospitals are looking at protecting all of their assets, virtual and physical. Hospitals are having not only to implement the most secure networks, but they’re also having to put stringent processes and procedures in place to make sure that patient health information stays private. They’re also deploying technologies such as video surveillance to enhance physical safety. It’s an unspoken and maybe even sub-conscience expectation of patients that no violent or negative event will happen while they’re at a hospital. Video surveillance allows security managers to protect more ground with limited personnel. Asset tracking is quickly becoming a focus of the industry as they understand the financial savings of managing their resources. They able to purchase fewer devices and less equipment when they’re able to easily track down and make available what they currently own.
