Research of Land Use Classification Based on ALOS and TM in Liang ChengAbstractIn this paper Liangcheng local area was taken as the research areas, and use the ALOS data on July 20th, 2009 and Landsat5 TM data on July 09th, 2009 to classify land use for Liangcheng based on the decision tree classification.Pre-processing to the ALOS and TM images. Due to the complex mountainous terrain of Liangcheng, it is necessary to carry out image shadow elimination treatment (ratio operation: B4/B3).The calculation of normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI= (B4-B3)/ (B4+B3)).Optimal band combination analysis to the ALOS and TM images, proposed the best combination band(band432), enriched its information and correlation.Will be optimal band combination researched to the three best band with other auxiliary data (The ratio of image, vegetation index image, DEM and its extended gradient image) to overlay, getting two multi-band image files of ALOS and TM in Liangcheng local area.According to the standard of Liangcheng land use classification, it’s defined of own. Liangcheng land use/land cover classes will be divided into nine kinds of land use types: forest land, cultivated land(cultivated land 1 and 2), grasslands, swamps, saline-alkali land, beaches, waters and residents, bare land.Research combined spectral information with other supporting information to the typical feature of the image for statistical analysis of spectrum characteristic, and trial and error to get classification threshold, and then define the decision tree classification rules, to classify images.Established the confusion matrix for accuracy validation, and calculated around the area. ALOS images overall classification accuracy was 87.12%, the kappa coefficient was 0.8552 and TM images overall classification accuracy was 85.51%, the kappa coefficient was 0.8379.
