AbstractQuinolineanditsderivativesisnotonlyoneoftheorganic,analytical,electrochemical,andcoordinationchemistryresearchsubjects,butalsoverywidelyusedinmaterialsscience,metallurgy,medicine,chemistry,pharmaceuticalchemistry,biochemistryandotherdisciplines.Because8-hydroxyquinolineHydroxyquinolineisafunctionalgroupwithstrongcoordination,thisunitiswidelyusedinthepreparationoffunctionalquinolinederivatives.Infraredspectroscopyisappliedasanimportantmeanstostudymolecularstructure,intramolecular,intermolecularinteractionenergy.Bandposition,intensityandspectralshapeareallcloselyrelatedtothechemicalstructureofthemolecules,thespacegeometricstructure,themolecularfieldandtheelectronclouddistribution.Asanexample,infraredspectroscopycanbeusedasasimplewaytostudyofhydrogenbonds.Whenhydrogenbondingoccurs,theOHbondlengthincreaseandthecorrespondingabsorptionbandsshifttoalowerfrequency.Currently,thedensityfunctionaltheoryinstudiesofthegeometry,molecularforceconstants,vibrationalfrequenciesandinfraredandRamanspectralintensityhasbeenwelldeveloped.ThecomputationalaccuracyandcomputationalefficiencyforDFTmethodsinthestudyofmolecularvibrationalspectrahaveobviousadvantages.Therefore,Densityfunctionaltheoryiswidelyusedinthestudyofthevibrationalspectraofpolyatomicmolecules.ChapterI:TheresearchandapplicationoftheSchiffbasemoleculesarereviewed,themaintheoriesrelatedtothiswork,includingtheoreticalcalculationmethodsandtheoreticalknowledgeoftheinfraredspectraareintroduced,andourresearchcontentandsignificanceispresent.ChapterII:DensityFunctionalTheory(DFT)B3LYPmethodatthe6-311++G**basissetwasusedtocalculatethegeometryandinfraredspectrumof2-[(4-bromophenylimino)methyl]-8-hydroxyquinoline,theoptimizedconformationofthisSchiffbasecompoundbeingobtained.Comparedthecalculatedandoptimizedgeometricstructuretomeasuredcrystalstructure,thefrequenciesandthecorrespondinginfraredintensitywereinvestigatedanddiscussed.ThedifferentDFTmethods(B3LYP,BLYP,B3P86,B3PW91andHFmethod,respectively)wereappliedincalculatinggeometr
