Then, it made an analysis about the background of problem about the definition and the reason of study under the protocol framework. It viewed that st udy on the definition is important for the whole protocol. This offered a necessary precondition for the following study.Next, the paper gave an conclusion to the development of the definition o f space assets, and described the focus controversies among them, such as sphere of space assets, the norm to be used, the parts and components, and so on, and introduced the concrete performance of the focus controversies. On the basis of the above study, the paper offered some critical thoughts on the contro versies of the definition, the definition itself and certain relative issues, those were “the relationship between the protocol and the outer space law system, the role of government, Chinas space assets and how to face space commercialization.The conclusion is as following: it should be adhered to the principle o f making space financing easier, not only in the definition of space assets but also in the formulation of the protocol, the final definition obtained at last is relatively ideal, the government shall play an correct role in the international commercial activities, and China shou
