TheResponseofSpirulinaplatensistoLowTemperatureandHighLightinanAlkaliLakeoftheErdosPlateauAbstractAsaneconomicallyimportantalga,Spirulinaplatensis’smetabolicresponsetoenvironmentalchangesisthefocusofmanycurrentresearches.Thebreedingspeciesusedinthedomesticfactorywasoriginatedfromtropicalregions,thusissensitivetocold;forthisreasontheSpirulinacultivationfactoryweremostlylocatedinsouthernChina,andconsequentlythedevelopmentofbreedingindustryinthenorthwasseriouslyhampered.TheoutputofSpirulinacultureingreenhousesatErdosinnorthernChinaisdrasticallydroppedduringtheearlyspringandlateautumnwhenthespeciesfromChadwasusedduetothepoorfitness,whiletheSpirulinaplatensisfromanalkalinelakeofErdosPlateaushowedgoodadaptabilitywiththeseasonalchanges.ThisprojectusingthespeciesofSpirulinaplatensisfromthealkalinelakeofErdosPlateauandfromthelakeofChadAfricaasexperimentalsubjectssystematicallycharacterizedthegrowth,photosynthesis,autioxidantenzymeactivitiesattheconditionssimulatingthestressoflowtemperatureandhighlightsandcomparedthedifferencesofstressresponsesbetweenSpirulinaplatensisfromanalkalinelakeofErdosPlateauandspeciesfromChad.Inaddition,thecorrelationbetweenoutputvariationandchangesintemperatureandlightintensityofSpirulinaplatensisfromanalkalinelakeofErdosPlateauingreenhouseculturewasanalysised.Theresultsaresummarizedasfollowing:ThephotoinhibitionofSpirulinawassignificantunderthestressoflowtemperatu-reandhighlight,thephotosyntheticratedroppeddrasticallywithloweringoftemperatureandlongertreatingtime;therecoveryrateforthetreatedsamplesvariedwithwavelengths,withthebluelightshowingthemostremarkable,followedbyredlight,yellowlight,andgreenlight;Afterstressedbylowtemperatureandhighlight,therecoveryofphysicalindexesforsamplesfromErdosPlateauwasfasterthanthatofspeciesfromChad;therecoverytimenegativelycorrelatedwiththetreatingtimeandthetreatingtemperature;proteinbiosynthesisinvolvedinrecoveryofphotosyntheticcapacityofSpirulina.Thechlorophylla,solublesugar,solubleprotein,PC,APC,andcarotenoiddec
