AbstractThe Concept map is a tool for knowledge representation. Novak, Professor of Cornell University in the 1960s last century, led the team to carry out a period of 12 years of education and research. The team adopted audio teaching method for students to learn science concepts, and then made interviews with students and made note of the learning results. In the process of arranging interview scripts, the staff found the map with nodes, connections was available to show the scientific concept students mastered. It was easy to get to know the changes of students’ knowledge by comparing the maps of different learning stages. So the Concept map was born. Soon Novak team paid attention to Ausubel’s Meaningful Learning Theory which is good to explain the educational function of the Concept map theoretically. Ausubel Theory emphasized that the childrens learning should be meaningful and the knowledge learned previously would affect the later learning. Therefore it provides a strong theoretical foundation and vitality to Concept map. Because of Ausubel’s theory ,Concept map was spreaded in North American education circles and was popular in globe. In the 1990s,with the development of computer technology and the popularity of the Internet, the society has entered the information age. The researcher have to face the tremendous information every day . How to manage to order and integrate them for economy has become the focuses. Although the Concept maps was born in the field of education, it has been spreaded to various areas of social production because of its powerful knowledge management capability. The library is a carrier of human culture. Its mission is ordering and transferring the information flow of social literature.
