Introduction to Management Ningbo University (宁波大学) Fall 2012 Contact Information: Krista Newell, email: newell_nbu@, QQ: 2337273648 Course Materials: Fundamentals of Management, Robbins, S. and DeCenzo, D., 6th edition Grading: Daily Performance: 10% Homework In class activities Exam Grade: 50% Midterm exam: 20% (Week 9) Final exam: 30% (Week 18) Extension: 40% Business Plan Parts: 15% (5% each part) Business Plan Presentation: 15% Business Plan Final Report: 10% Use of Extension: The extension will be used primarily as time to work and discuss the Business Plan Project. Students will be expected to come prepared on the given days. There will also be some discussion of relevant business topics, role-play, and presentations in so much that the students are the main actors and actresses. Students will be expected to attend during the weeks noted below (Weeks 5, 8, 12, 15, 16) and possibly more if needed (these will be clearly announced in class in advanced). Project Description: Students will create a business plan for an existing (local) business. The final report will include information on the company’s background, an analysis of the market, description of the new product or service being proposed, as well as marketing strategy and risk analysis.
