This is were monitoring of information begins Retrieval Rehearsal Sensory Input Rehearsal This is where practice, understanding, and actual learning take place Where short-term memory begins the monitoring process, Rehearsal puts into action Encoding takes place Linguistic (Verbal) Visual Motor Retrieval Rehearsal Sensory Input Feedback Loop When you are working with rehearsal you are using your short-term memory reinforce what you have learned thus a feedback loop is created You are putting the information back to short-term memory to process it again Retrieval Rehearsal Sensory Input Long-term memory Storage system Stores in clusters of related information New information can be stored but it is clumsy until new schemas or clusters can be formed to support this new information Retrieval Rehearsal Sensory Input Your active path to show what you have learned Practice information becomes accessible What you use when taking a test If the information is in a clear schema retrieval becomes easy Retrieval
