ABSTRACTWith the rapid development of society and economy，People demand for education increasingly, which brings about a growing contradiction between investment and supply in education.In lack of resources, people must focus on effective use of educational resources and attach importance to the economic basis educational strategies are based on. Therefore, it is necessary to make an economic analysis of higher education, as well as an objective evaluation of its educational performance.In Gansu, a less developed province, we should pay more attention to improve its input-output efficiency with its limited resources, in order to fully utilize the limited educational resources.This study uses data envelopment analysis（Data Envelopment Analysis，Referred to as DEA）to analyze the data. DEA is based on input data and output data to evaluate the merits of policy-making unit, which is to evaluate the relative effectiveness of inter. In this study, there are four methods of data analysis: efficiency analysis based on CCR model, frontier projection analysis, increasing returns to scale and efficiency analysis based on BCC model.The results show that:Northwest Normal University, Lanzhou University of Technology, Lanzhou Jiaotong University, Tianshui Normal College, Hexi College and Lanzhou City College are in the overall efficiency of the front surface, with an effective deterministic DEA.Gansu Agricultural University, Lanzhou University of Finance and Economics , Gansu Political Science and Law Institute, Gansu College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Gansu Normal University For Nationalities are DEA effective non-deterministic, There are problems on input redundancy and (or) output shortage in different scales.Northwest Normal University, Lanzhou University of Technology, Lanzhou Jiaotong University, Tianshui Normal College, Hexi College and Lanzhou City College produced under the optimal scale of production, in the stage of constant returns to scale.These colleges produ
