AbstractIn2011nationalprimaryschoolEnglishcurriculumstandardpointedout:basiceducationstagetheoverallgoalofEnglishcourseistocultivatestudentscomprehensivelanguageusingability.Comprehensivelanguageusingabilitybasedontheformationofstudentslanguageskills,languageknowledge,emotionalattitude,learningstrategiesandculturalawareness,onthebasisofoveralldevelopment.Itsbasicideaistofaceallstudent,payattentiontoqualityeducation;Theoveralldesigngoal,flexibleandopen;Outstandingstudents,respectforindividualdifferences,etc.IntheactualEnglishteaching,insistonEnglishteachersmustfaceallstudent,layafoundationforstudentsall-rounddevelopmentandlifelongdevelopment.Payattentiontostudentsemotion,createloose,democraticandharmoniousteachingatmosphere;Advocatestask-basedteachingapproach,cultivatestudentscomprehensivelanguageusingability;Tostrengthentheguidanceofstudentslearningstrategies,tolayagoodfoundationfortheirlife-longlearning;Expandthestudentsculturalfieldofvision,developingtheircross-culturalcommunicationconsciousnessandability;Andmakefulluseofmoderneducationtechnology,broadeningthechannelsforstudentstolearnanduseEnglish;Organizationoflivelyextracurricularactivities,andpromotethestudentsEnglishlearningrequirements.Thisstudyattemptstoanswerthefollowingquestions:1)thepresentelementarystudentsEnglishlearninginShanghaisuburb,whataretheircharacteristics?2)howthecurrentsituationofprimaryschoolstudentsEnglishlearningmotivationinShanghaisuburb?3)primaryschoolstudentsinShanghaisuburb,whatarethereasonsbehindthestatusquoofEnglishlearningmotivation?4)insideandoutsidetheclassroombasedonmotivationtheory,maintainandstimulatethepupilsEnglishlearningmotivationinnerandoutersuburbs?TheresearchresultsshowthatintermsofEnglishlearningmotivation,theirownexpectationvalueofelementaryschoolstudentsinShanghaisuburbislow,highachievementmotivation,andself-efficacyisnotoptimistic,correspondingly,thelowerthestudentsself-efficacy,learningEnglishgradesislow.ThistoaIIcertainextent,someexpertssupportingtheclaimsofacorrel
