AbstractNowadays,Traditionaltonguediagnosishasbeenencounteringsomecrucialproblemstobesettledurgently,suchaslackingofmodernmedicaltheory,havingstrongsubjective,andthevaryingdiagnosisresultduetothedoctors’personalexperienceandtheenvironments.Intheotherhands,manyusefulclinicalexperienceandinformationarenotrecordedandsavedbecauseoftheinherentlimitationoftraditionaltonguediagnosis.Thesefactorspreventthedevelopmentoftraditionaltonguediagnosisinsomeextent.Inthedissertation,byadoptingthetheoriesofdigitalimageprocessingandpatternrecognition,wewillinvestigatethetonguecolorclustering,tonguecoatingandbodysegmentation,tonguefeatureextractionandoptimizationandthediagnosismodeling.Thedetailcontentincludes:Clusterofthetonguecolor:weestablishedthetonguecolorgamutbymakingastatisticofonethousandtongueimages,andthenvalidatedthecompletenessofthegamut.Furthermore,differentclusteringalgorithmswerecomparedandrevaluedbasedonthetonguecolorgamut.Finally,wedevelopedamodifiedfuzzyc-meansalgorithmtoextracttherepresentingtonguecolorsandusedtheminthedesignationoftonguecolorchecker.Segmentationoftonguecoatandbody:weanalyzedtheadvantagesanddisadvantagesofthemethodaboutmaximumbetween-varianceandtheeffectsofthreshold-basedmethodintongue’sdifferentcolorchannel.Then,analgorithmofdynamicthresholdcombiningmultiplechannelswasproposed.Theresultofexperimentshowsouralgorithmgainingbettereffects.Extricationandoptimizationoftonguecolorfeatures:wemakeadeepstudyofusualcolorfeatures,suchascolorhistogram,colormoments,TamuratextureandGaborwavelettexturebeingusedintongueimages.Andthen,weanalyzedtheresponseofeachmaskofGaborwaveletinordertoreducethefeaturedimensions.Model’sdesignationandassessment:weintroducetheregressionideaappliedinthetonguediagnosisclassificationfirstly;theLogisticregressionwithridgeregulartermwasanalyzedunderdifferentcolorfeatureswithdifferentexperimentaldata.Inordertoimprovetheabilityofprediction,therandomforestwasadopted,andtheexperimentsshowedthatbothmodelsareeffectiveandrobusttoclassifydifferen
